Professor and Head of ANU Indonesia Project Blane Lewis

ANU Indonesia Project, Arndt-Corden Department of Economics, Coordinating Editor of BIES

Blane Lewis joined the Arndt-Corden Department of Economics, Crawford School of Public Policy, as Senior Fellow in 2014. He is the Director of ANU’s Indonesia Project and the Lead Editor of the Bulletin of Indonesian Economic Studies. His research focuses on issues related to local public finance and political economy in Indonesia. He supervises Arndt-Corden PhD students and teaches Crawford’s graduate course on Quantitative Policy Impact Evaluation (IDEC8026). Before joining ANU, Blane worked for many years as a policy adviser in Indonesia, mostly on intergovernmental fiscal relations and decentralization, with Harvard Institute for International Development, Research Triangle Institute, and World Bank, among others. He has worked in a number of other developing and transition countries, including Bangladesh, Belize, Congo, Egypt, Haiti, India, Kenya, Madagascar, Niger, Philippines, Poland, Togo, and Vietnam. Blane has also taught at Cornell University and Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore.
