About the Student Research Travel Grants

The Indonesia Project Student Research Travel Grants assist domestic Honours and Masters students who are undertaking research on Indonesia. The first grants were offered in the 2014 academic year.

The grants are open to individuals of at least 18 years of age, and are currently enrolled or about to enrol in degree programs at the Honours or Masters level at an Australian university. The grants are open to Australian citizens or Australian permanent residents from any Australian university.

Gender equality and inclusion are considered key components of the Indonesia Project’s research and outreach activities. In 2024, the Indonesia Project aims to award 3 grants, each AUD $3,000. At least one grant will be awarded to a student research proposal that applies a gender and inclusivity lens, or considers problem identification and explicitly identifies how the problem impacts men, women or people with a disability and what the barriers are.

The Project strongly encourages women, researchers with disability, and researchers from diverse backgrounds across a range of Indonesian social and economic policy issues to apply for these grants.
